so you want to put a Columbo v12 from a vintage Ferrari in a WRX?

I wouldn't be opposed to it and it's more original than an LS swap. If you have an extra laying around, I'm down.

This! What the hell is this and when can it be delivered?

Sorry for the shitty mobile link http://m.motoring.com.au/news/2013/twin…

OPPOSED to it? Triple word score!
(as in engines, and locks)

Im not understanding how there could possibly be enough lobes on a crankshaft for those V8's to share one.. They aren't even staggered! Maybe really long rods or something and each cylinder and piston is linked to the corresponding one on the other side..one goes up while the other goes down.
Specifics aside... That thing would ruin a front engined car. It would be like trying to ride a skateboard while standing on the front lip.

I was thinking making it mid engines and putting it where the rear seats/trunk is (not seriously, but might as well go all out for that crazy thing)

Ok - my brain is hurting trying to understand this. There has to be some sort of gearing that connects the centerline of each bank of cylinders and this flywheel assembly, right?
![]() 04/14/2015 at 02:58 |

smaller displacement, higher revving and it would be awesome in an Alpine.
![]() 04/14/2015 at 03:45 |

looks like it's actually 2 cranks geared together to meet the single flywheel.

What I want to know is : are these two assemblies counter-rotating, directly driven by a gear between the two? If so, what adjusts the gear lash? So many questions...
![]() 04/14/2015 at 05:23 |

It looks like they both have their very own crankshaft, and they are joined together with a transfer case.

it has two cranks. See the gear casing where they collectively drive the trans?

Of course it's Australian! Crazy bogans!

Somewhere on the interwebs is a first gen impreza with an M5 V10 swap.

Yes it is some form of gear case that transfers the rotation of the two engines' crank output into a single output.
Here is a picture of one being used to connect two V12 engines together. https://www.facebook.com/HolleyPerforma…
This project has been around for a while. http://www.streetmachine.com.au/features/1503/… wrote a new article on it and there didn't seem to be much progress (from the photos) from the articles back in 2013.

Then take it to Ferrari meets and get stabbed. I'd pay to see that haha

Pictures of engines that make me happy
Ok then. My turn. These put a smile on my face. You used at least one of these today. Probably more than one.
